- Bridport Lions are committed to challenging, supporting and recognising the activities of young people in Bridport, Dorset and throughout the World.
- We CHALLENGE them to take part and achieve in community activities.
-
- We SUPPORT the clubs that provide these communities’ activities by funding sporting, educational, drama and dance based groups. In the last year Bridport Lions have supported sports through the Barracudas and Water Polo Teams, youth activities through Scouts and Sea Scouts and arts, drama and literature through the Summerthings, Bridport Dance and school workshops at the Literary Festival. Internationally we have provided 250 orphans and refugees with the equipment that enables them to attend school in the Dodoma region of Tanzania.
- On the recommendation of local health and social care professions and schools Bridport Lions have donated to young people in need adapted computers and I-pods, to support them at home and school.
- We RECOGNISE young people’s achievement in community activities through Community Awards in all the local High Schools, donating prizes for both the young people and the groups that enable their participation. Other groups, especially those using the Leisure Centre, are provide with prizes and certificates that enable them to recognise their high achievers. Most recently Bridport Lions are collaborating with one of our local High Schools in introducing Young Leaders in Service awards, that provide recognition for those who support not just youth groups, but also those in need in their local community.
